Assembly
In addition to Norris Precisions manufacturing
capabilities, we offer a full range of value added
assembly options. From installing Helicoils, Slimserts,
Keenserts, Lee Plugs, Lee Restrictors and Rosan Fittings
to a variety of studs, pins and bushings, we can supply
your lower level components to you machined and assembled
complete. Norris Precision can also provide upper level
assemblies incorporating those components to reduce part
counts and overhead costs related to the procurement and
assembly of individual components.
The Lee Plug is a cylindrical plug with
a tapered hole part way through its center and numerous
small grooves on its outside diameter. It is slipped into
a reamed counter bore in the product. A tapered pin is
then driven into the plug until the ends of the pin and
the plug are flush with each other. Controlled expansion
causes the lands and grooves of the plug to "bite" into
the surrounding material forming independent seals and
retaining rings. Result: a positive, reliable, leak and
trouble-proof seal for both liquids and gases.
Keensert Key-Locking Inserts provide
high strength and reliability and are designed to provide
high resistance to rotation and pull-out loads. After
installation into the tapped hole, the locking keys on
each Keensert are driven down through the threads of the
parent material, locking the insert firmly and permanently
in place.
Lee Restrictors are miniature inserts
available in metered Lohm rates from 1000-10,000 Lohms,
and are screened to protect the orifice. Flow through the
orifice creates pressure drop across the ball which moves
it completely away from the seat. This unique design
eliminates silting problems which occur whenever a
restrictor is used in series with a check valve. Lee
Restrictor Cheks maintain large minimum passageways for
reliable performance.
Ring Locked (Rosan) Fittings Fluid boss
adapters are lightweight and provide a fluid passage from
tube ends to parent material boss. They are available in
Beam, Flared and Flareless seal configurations. Each
fitting has two sealing surfaces, an anti-rotation captive
lock ring that secures the adapter to the boss, and
prevents loosening or backing-off under severe vibration,
temperature cycling or B-nut installation and removal.
Slimsert® Inserts are one piece, thin walled locked-in
threaded inserts that provide high strength bolted joints
in weaker materials.
Slimsert® inserts are a logical choice
when space limitations result in minimum boss dimensions,
but you require a maximum degree of thread protection and
fastening integrity. Free running and thread locking
internal threads are available. Slimsert® inserts are
manufactured in strict conformance to MIL-I-45932/1C and
MIL-I-45932/3B. Slimsert® inserts are easy to install. No
special taps or gages are required for parent hole
preparation. Swaging the knurl securely locks the insert
in place providing high resistance to torque-out.
Heli-Coil When installed into Heli-Coil
STI tapped holes, inserts provide permanent conventional
60° internal screw threads that accommodate any standard
bolt or screw. Heli-Coil threaded inserts boast a high
wearing tensile strength, low thread friction with tight
tolerances, and a high surface quality as well as
corrosive- and heat-resistant properties. With Heli-Coil
threads, tapped holes are strengthened and thread life is
dramatically increased even after repeated assembly and
disassembly. Tapped holes are easily incorporated into
existing designs.
